If you have mental or emotional health challenges, such as depression, anxiety, addictions, or eating disorders, you are not alone. And, if you are one of the estimated 41.5 million women in the U.S. who was sexually abused or assaulted as a child or teen, the challenges you’ve been facing are likely not a coincidence.
85% of child sexual abuse survivors experience at least one diagnosable mental health disorder by age 30.
Survivors are three times more likely to attempt suicide.
Survivors are nearly twice as likely to drop out of high school.
We want you to know that if you’re experiencing any of these struggles, it is not a reflection of your character, strength, or value. The challenges you’re facing are very likely trauma symptoms related to the abuse you endured as a child.
You can find relief from the struggles you have been fighting against for so long by addressing the underlying trauma causing your pain. You can heal from the trauma of child sexual abuse. You can learn to recognize how trauma affects your brain and body, discover passions that motivate you to heal, and develop the self-compassion you need to move forward with confidence in your abilities.
